Matthew 1:18 states
- “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.”
- His birth was supernatural because God impregnated his biological mother Mary. Although his earthly father was Joseph, God condescended to our level and humbled Himself completely to the point of becoming a baby. His birth occurred in a manger in a horse’s stable in Bethlehem of Judea.
John 10:30 states "I and My Father are one.
Jesus Christ and God the Father are one and the same. That means that Jesus Christ is God. The term God means that He is the only self-sufficient being who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. That means that Jesus Christ is everywhere at the same time. He also has authority and power over everything in existence. Their is nothing that can defeat Him. Omniscience means that Jesus Christ has perfect knowledge of everything from beginning to end. Their is nothing He does not know.
Philippians 2:7-8 states "but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross"
These scriptures are so important because it lets us know that Jesus Christ was a regular human being who wept, slept, walked, hungered, thirsted, and even physically died in the same manner that all other human beings experience those things. Although He was God, He was subject to the limitations and problems that all human beings experience. He was not some ghost or angel when He lived on this Earth. He is the only person who was God and man simultaneously.
Philippians 2:9 specifically states "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,"
- This scripture proves that Jesus Christ has complete supreme authority. All kings, kingdoms, governors, presidents, the moon, the sun and the stars have to confess that Jesus Christ is above everyone and everything. Nothing is above Him. He is the Most High God.
- Matthew 28:19 says that God is one person who exists in three different entities – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (The Trinity). The Trinity are three different people. The Son does not transform to the Father and then the Father to the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is not three different forms or modes.
Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
This scripture lets us know that salvation comes through no one else, other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation and forgiveness are not found in Buddah, Allah, Joseph Smith, transcendental meditation, the universe, horoscopes, or any other thing in existence.
